Don't Give Up Or Settle For Less

I know I skipped the last week's post. But believe me, I had a good reason. Today I am coming to you with a refreshed mind and a new understanding.

As humans, it's hard to think of an idea without feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders. And when you're faced with a lot of big decisions, that weight can feel downright suffocating. This is especially true when you're deciding whether or not to buckle under this pressure and give up, or keep pushing through and settling for less than what you deserve.

But here's the thing: You have more power than you think.

Many people who are in a place like this--where they're thinking about life-changing decisions, or they're faced with big obstacles, or they just can't seem to achieve their dreams no matter how hard they try--feel like they're at the mercy of the universe. They don't quite understand how to use their power effectively and are plagued with feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.

I know this because I've been there, too.

If you think about all of the things that could possibly go wrong if you try to achieve your dreams, it can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking there's no point in even trying. And when you're faced with a big obstacle like an accident or a natural disaster or a terrible disease, it can be hard to believe that with enough work you'll overcome these difficulties and get what you want out of life.

If this sounds like you, take heart. I'm going to share some idea with you today that has the power to help you change your perspective, shift how you think about your life, and use your life-changing decisions in a way that makes them truly effective.

And no matter what obstacle is in your way--disease, natural disaster, financial trouble--this idea will help you overcome these obstacles and make the small changes every day that will lead you to success.

So what is this idea?

It's the idea that you already have everything you need to achieve your dreams.

The first step toward making life-changing decisions that lead you to success is realizing that, if you have the will, then you already have everything you need.

I know this may sound overly simplistic and cheesy, but it's true. Every single person, no matter who they are or what their circumstances are, has the power to achieve their dreams. And it's the same for you.

Let me explain.

While traveling through Italy, I learned so much about history, including a lot of Renesanse artists that are still remembered as geniuses. One of the is Michelangelo. So his story is that. His father was a banker and then worked for the government. He wanted his son to take after his steps, but not to be an artist. His father didn't want to see his incredible talent until Michelangelo started to make money at a very early age.

If you think about it, if you really consider the fact that no matter who you are or what your situation is, you can achieve your dreams if you have the will to do so, then suddenly it becomes clear that all of your excuses for failure disappear.

Anyone who has ever accomplished anything worthwhile was once in the same position as you are right now, including geniuses like Michelangelo. He had been in a position where the pressure was so great that he felt like he had no other option than to give up or settle for less than what he wanted. We all know what he chose because 500 years later we still admire his work as one of the bests.

You don’t have an idea of how many times I've been faced with big challenges that seemed insurmountable, and thought, "There's no way I can overcome this obstacle. There's no way I can achieve my dream. There's no way I can do this." And then I've stayed strong and pushed through.

And when I look back on all of the obstacles I've overcome, the limitations that were put in my way, the things that were said to me or done to me, the times when others didn't believe in me, or even when I didn't believe in myself, it only makes my determination to succeed stronger.

You're not going to find anything you want by giving up. That's a fact.

There are many people out there who are afraid of making the decision to push through and achieve their dreams. They're afraid that if they do this, big things will happen to them. They're afraid of what will happen if they decide to take a chance and go for something, or go after something different than what people think they should have.

But I don't believe it's possible to have the things you want in life without taking a chance. Or without going after what you want.

I don't believe it's possible to be happy or feel fulfilled unless you take a chance and pursue your dreams.

I know that if you're like me, you don't want to stop until you realize your dreams and reach your goals. But you're not going to achieve your dreams if you're just going to give up and say that they're impossible.

If you're still here. You haven't given up yet. And the fact that you've read this far means that there's a reason.

So here's the thing.

If you have the will to do anything, then you already have everything you need.

I know this will come as a surprise to some people, because it seems like if you don't have everything that you need in life, then what are the chances that you'll be able to achieve your dreams? But it's not true.

You're already more powerful than you think.

Consider this. If you knew that if you had the will to do it, there wouldn't be anything in the world that could stop you from achieving your dreams. If you knew that with enough time and dedication, anyone could achieve their dreams...if you knew all of this and believed in yourself, then what would stand in your way of achieving what you want?

It's true. You have everything you need already.

If you're committed to your dreams and making them a reality for yourself, then nothing can stop you.

You might be afraid of failure or being rejected. You might be afraid of what will happen if things don't work out. You might just be afraid of change.

It doesn't matter how many reasons you have why you don't want to do something. None of those things will stop you from achieving your dreams.

You just have to believe that it's possible, and then you have to take the first step.

I get a lot of emails from people who tell me, "I don't believe in myself." Or "I'm afraid to take a chance." Or "I'm afraid of what will happen if I commit to my dream."

And guess what?

It takes time and dedication to make a dream come true. But if you do it...it's worth it.
